Drake x Weezy x Kobe Photoshoot for VIBE Magazine

Like we reported in an earlier post, Drake was going to be featured on the cover of the December '09 re-launch of VIBE Magazine. Well it seems that the305 has unveiled some images from the photoshoots. Although this isn't an excuse to avoid buying the magazine, the shots are so bad-ass I couldn't resist sharing them with you. If a photshoot of Drake, Weezy and Kobe wasn't dope, we'd have a serious problem - hopefully the kind of problem that Bryant and the Lakers will have hosting LBJ and the Cavs tomorrow. Anyways, enjoy.

Young Money - "Bed Rock" (Music Video)

This is Young Money's second video "Bed Rock". Young Money, for those who don't know yet, is the record label founded by Lil Wayne and is essentially the collection of artists that form his supporting crew (featuring the likes of Drake, Mack Maine, Jae Millz and Nicki Minaj). Personally, I like their first single "Every Girl" better, but this song is alright. Two things: 1) Holy MOFO these guys are so rich, it's not even funny and 2) Lil Wayne, kick Gudda Gudda off your label; he has a (really) stupid name and brings nothing to the table; please and thank you.

Young Money's debut record We Are Young Money drops December 21st, which happens to be on the same day Weezy's releasing his new rock album Rebirth (coincidence? nah...) I expect Rebirth to be a piece of crap but do alright just because it's Weezy. As for the Young Money record...well, I think these two songs will be the only ones worth listening to but I could be proven wrong; only time will tell.

Game Hova? - My final rebuttal and plea for Weezy

I hate to feel compelled to continue this challenge but there are some points that I feel obliged to contest from my good friend jonny and his case for the Jigga. I'd like to state before I continue that what Hova has done to the game and sport of rap is unquestionable, we are not talking about who has done more, or anything like that, cause J has been here longer, is a pimp, and bangs Beyonce Knowles at night.

This discussion is just straight up right now who is better, and Weezy right now is on-top of the game.

First and foremost both songs Jonny used to compare are the only tracks i'll mention, and they are both well... not the best stuff from these two heavy hitters non-the-less;

Mr. Carter - Lil' Wayne ft. Jay-Z - Tha Carter III :

Other than the line mentioned by Katesy in his post Wayne has these pieces of gold throughout;

"Blind eyes can look at me and see the truth/Wonder if stevie do"

"But I'm a leave it to God not b but even u/Cause I'm a murder Y kill O and even U"

Anyways the whole premise of this track is that J is passing on the game to Wayne hence the concluding line, and probably J's second best... "I took so much change from this rap game/It's your go"

I would like to mention that Wayne sings the hook and the outro for this song. Jay has one verse and most people do think this song is dope so i mean who is responsible for that sentiment? the 45 secs that J is on the track saying he is giving up the game to Wayne, or Weezy who sings the chorus, the outro, and 2 verses.

Jonny also argues that Wayne never mentions his hometown, difficult to make that case when he does so here (and does on like 75% of Weezy tracks)

"like I'm from Colli Park but I'm from Hollygrove" Hollygrove is Wayne's housing project in NO. Which makes a good segway into...

Hello Brooklyn - Jay-Z Ft Lil' Wayne - American Gangster

In Hello Brooklyn Wayne mentions New Orleans..."where Brooklyn at?... Have u seen her? and if she tell u somethin' u betta believe her she tol' me she like my New Orleans Demeanor and so I said goodbye Katrina"

Jonny also says that Wayne brings nothing to the track....? The dude sings the hook, and Jay wastes a dope song...If Wayne did the verses this could be a #1.

Lastly, here's Kanye's take on the game cited in 08 from Hip Hop DX - its Kanye bitching at MTV's list for top 10 MC of the decade.

He went on to give MTV his list of hottest MC's today. LOL he says Wayne is even better than himself, and we all know how much Kanye LOVES himself - no mention of Jigga PS.

Jigga man

For those who haven't been following, Josh claimed in an MSN convo that Lil Wayne is "the best rapper alive". I vehemently disagree and need look no further than my man Shaw Carter aka Jay-Z aka Hov. To prove my point let's do a quick analysis of their two latest collaborations: Mr. Carter and Hello Brooklyn
Looking at Mr. Carter, Weezy's best verse is probably: "I been in and out the bank bitch/While ya'll asshole niggas been on the same shit/I flush em and watch em go down the drain quick/Two words you neva hear WAYNE QUIT". Not too bad. Jay on the other hand comes with: "Show no mercy to the Murcielagos/Far from being the bastard that Marcy had fathered/Now my names being mentioned with the martyrs/The Biggies and the Pacs the Marleys and the Marcus'"
Neither was great but Jay has better flow on the track and at least he has a metaphor; Josh, do you know how Marcy is? That's his housing project in Brooklyn; put that place on the map boy!
Speaking of Brooklyn, Weezy's featured on Hello Brooklyn, a song about Jay's city. And really, when was the last time you even heard Wayne mention New Orleans? Anyways, back to the point, Wayne really brought nothing to this track. "She said, she got a man but he ain't worried/But baby I'm a have to rob him like Horry" Ok really?! Congrats Weezy, you shouted out Robery Horry. That's not an innovative play on words; that's lame. On the other hand, Jay at least has a point to his rhymes: "Brooklyn you crazy, look how you made me/Razor blades in my mouth walk around behaving/All demented black hoodies and Timberlanded/Always scheming you see the gleam on that Niggas pendant/Hello Brooklyn, you bad influence, look what you had me doin'/But I ain't mad at you look at my attitude"
And finally, my ultimate point is that in both of these songs, Wayne mentions Jay-Z in the same sentence as Tupac and Biggie, which is no small feat in itself.
So Josh, Lil Wayne may be more anticipated and be featured on the hottest songs, but know this: Weezy looks up to, and respects, Jay. After all, the guy has more #1 albums than anyone in the history of music!
And WOWOWOWOW I found this just before I posted; it may be a few years old, but the point remains the same.

THIS is Weezy F Baby! I officially challenge you to find any track that Jay-Z out does Lil' Wayne on. And I just won that challenge cause it ain't happening.

The first track watch out, is your immortal big lipped god jigga and weezy rapping over a sweet mash up of Public Service Announcements bass line. The DJ used a weezy interview for the hook, yes he does speak musically too.

Second is a suspected leaked track off Tha Carter 4, it's intense and i say suspected cause Wayne is known for leaking tracks, and putting out phony mixtapes as albums...the man just loves making money.

A good remix with a stupid name

I really like remixes - especially dance remixes of hip-hop songs I know. When you're in the club and some dirty beat comes on and WHAM! you know the words and start singing along like an idiot; ya those kinds of songs.
My current favourite is a remix of Baby's "Money to Blow" with Drake and Weezy. The remix involves some sort of Britney Spears mashup and for God knows what reason, this DJ Pinto character decided to name his remix "Money She Bl3w". Really, a 3??

The Carter - Lil Wayne's Sundanced Doc' gets good reviews again

Lil wayne is one of those rappers that people either love or love to hate. Be it auto-tuned, promethazined, or incarcerated, the ex-young money CEO had a movie crew follow him around, the product of which is the documentary "The Carter". The doc got solid reviews at the Sundance movie festival, and I attached a link to the review I read on the film. I haven't given it a watch yet but it definitely looks intriguing. I mean Weezy IS the self declared martian, how boring could this film be?
