The Cool Kids - "Tires" (Video)

If you're not familiar with the Cool Kids, a hip-hop duo from the midwest, then it's time to familiarize yourself. As a holiday gift to all of you, complete strangers, the Cool Kids decided to drop an absolutely free 4-song EP as a lead up to their eventual debut album When Fish Ride Bicycles. The EP entitled Christmas features production from Don Cannon, Cool Kids' own Chuck Inglish and First Team All State and a guest appearance from Boldy James. If you're not generally a hip-hop fan don't worry, the Cool Kids' style is anything but ordinary and all in honesty, I wasn't a huge fan of theirs at the beginning like I am with other acts but they've grown on me. Just because we love you, here is a video for their track "Tires". Not an exciting video by any means but it's kind of cool to watch artists perform in the studio. It definitely makes me appreciate how performers have to memorize tons of lyrics and need to recall them at any moment. It's surely a craft.

On the topic of fascism, Rihanna whips a few good men into shape in her new video. All together it's a decent video except for the shameless Poker Stars plug and Jeezy's lack of on-screen presence. At one point, I was worried he was stuck on that crate but then he stoof up; relief; and then he sat back down.

Young Money - "Bed Rock" (Music Video)

This is Young Money's second video "Bed Rock". Young Money, for those who don't know yet, is the record label founded by Lil Wayne and is essentially the collection of artists that form his supporting crew (featuring the likes of Drake, Mack Maine, Jae Millz and Nicki Minaj). Personally, I like their first single "Every Girl" better, but this song is alright. Two things: 1) Holy MOFO these guys are so rich, it's not even funny and 2) Lil Wayne, kick Gudda Gudda off your label; he has a (really) stupid name and brings nothing to the table; please and thank you.

Young Money's debut record We Are Young Money drops December 21st, which happens to be on the same day Weezy's releasing his new rock album Rebirth (coincidence? nah...) I expect Rebirth to be a piece of crap but do alright just because it's Weezy. As for the Young Money record...well, I think these two songs will be the only ones worth listening to but I could be proven wrong; only time will tell.

If I hadn't made a promise on this very blog only last week that I would post the music video for "Fed Up" when it came out, then trust me I wouldn't be doing it. This video is trash and DJ Khaled should never be allowed to step in front of a camera again with his ridiculous arm flailing. The whole premise is stupid and really, Khaled, the prize package is headphones with more of your music coming out of them?; great...

At least Usher looks f-ing pimp in his grey suit; it's just too bad they styled his light-coloured outfit with boots that don't match.

I decided to compile a list of some my favourite music videos of 2009, just for y'all! Most of them I really enjoyed because they reflected the music really well, were crafted with an obvious passion, and/or featured Hova fading on Lebron. What up.

I know that I left a few out, so I just chose the first six off the top of my head. Some others that deserve spots are Major Lazer's Pon De Floor, Charlotte Gainsbourg's Heaven Can Wait, and Chalie Boy's I Look Good.
