Gift Guide Item #8: Hand Blown Modern Barware Set

A friend of mine recently bought a very nice watch made out of melted spoons (I hope this is the right link) from Etsy so I decided to take a look at the site. Etsy is a sort of community website where designers can sell their creations to the public and Etsy receives a very small portion of all sales. While browsing, I came across this this set of 8 hand-made shot glasses. Each individual shot glass has a slightly different ridged base, making the set look very real and hand-made as opposed to the usual monotony of shot glasses. Sadly, the set doesn't come with the wood base but nonetheless, this is a gift that any frequent party host would love to receive. Available through Etsy here for $29 USD.

Gift Guide Item #7: The "Get Headmaster" Shawl Collar Cardigan Men's Sweaters

Although our priciest item to date ($94.49 CDN), this sweater from LRG is straight ballin'. With a simple combination of black and grey stripes, the colourway matches with almost everything (I'd personally stay away from any browns, but some people dig the black/brown combo) and looks warm enough to take out for the winter that finally hit Toronto. Half-cardigan/half-sweater, this piece features the white buttons and little pockets in perfect cardigan style, and the thickness, the shawl collar and ribbings of a sweater - all of which really augment the stylistic aspect. Put this on, and feel your swag level instantaneously rise.

Gift Guide Item #5: Graffiti World: Street Art from Five Continents

I was originally going to post this book as a gift guide item, then forgot about it, then really wanted it for myself so ya, here we are. I've been looking to buy this book for over 3 years now but have never been able to justify spending 45 hard-earned dollars on a big picture book, no matter how graffiti-obsessed I am.

But now that this is a revised edition that comes in at a whopping 392 pages, I think I might splurge and finally pick it up, especially since I can buy it for $30 online here.

As for my aforementioned graffiti obsession, I'll be posting some of my favourite artists over the next few weeks once I have a bit more time to really go through and pick out the best.

Gift Guide Item #3: Men's Vancouver 2010 Bamboo Short-Sleeved

"This not so basic short-sleeved shirt is made from 50% bamboo making it slightly softer and more eco-friendly than 100% cotton shirts. Bamboo contains naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that are not lost during processing or repeated washings."

Yes, I stole that directly from the website but it says what I would have said - just in a more concise way. $20 for a socially conscious piece of clothing that blasts the Olympics...I'm down. Available at the Bay and online here for the guys. There's also a fairly similar version for the ladies, and is available here.

Gift Guide Item #2: All Good Pom Pom Beanie from UNDFTD

I'm feeling this beanie over at UNDFTD. Personally, I'd go with the navy one, but considering they are all the same design, whichever colour works with the outerwear you already own is obviously the best choice for you. The pro: (besides the pom pom) they're only $22(USD); the con: UNDFTD only ships to the States. It may be time to start cashing in on some American favours.

Gift Guide Item #1: Pangea MLB Passport cover

Ah December, time for the holidays. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to scour the interwebs like it's my freaking job to find some great gift ideas for the special people in your lives.

To start off, we have the Pangea brand MLB Passport Cover. They are available in two types of leather with any of the 30 MLB teams' logos emblazened on the front and at $30, are an inexpensive way to provide a little novelty these holidays. While this gift may seem to fall exclusively in the "Dad" category, I know plenty of females who are down with America's pastime; whether or not they're down with it to this level, I don't know.
