Wale's hustlin'

Wale Folarin is the hardest self-promoter in the hip-hop game, and possibly one of the unluckiest. He's been tweeting about how his debut CD, Attention Deficit, was undershipped; and despite its fairly positive reviews, it peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200 and didn't even top the Rap or R&B/Hip-Hop chart. But that's no matter for Wale; he just goes out to malls and blasts himself. All in a day's work I guess. And mad props for rockin' the Jays fitted.

A side of fries with that?

A video surfaced today that I felt was worth sharing with y'all. It's Wale and J. Cole freestyling at Denny's after one of their Jay-Z shows (they're part of his opening act but more on that in the upcoming week). I'm going to safely assume this vid was shot at at least 3 a.m. and all in all, very jokes rap. But for a legitimate song, download Beautiful Bliss featuring Cole and Toronto's own Melanie Fiona. This song appears on Wale's "Attention: Deficit" album, and is one of my favourites of the past little while.

Men of the Year

I love GQ magazine. I love Drake. So you know damn well I'm going to love that GQ is finally blasting Drake in their December issue. And to be a man of the year alongside Kid Cudi and Wale - well that's a fine piece of reporting, GQ. Too bad you didn't include J. Cole but there's always next year.
